WILL SYFY AND RONALD D. MOORE'S "HELIX" REPEAT BSG'S SUCCESS? Empty WILL SYFY AND RONALD D. MOORE'S "HELIX" REPEAT BSG'S SUCCESS?

WILL SYFY AND RONALD D. MOORE'S "HELIX" REPEAT BSG'S SUCCESS?

Only time will tell if SyFy's new science fiction thriller will meet, beat or suffer defeat while striving for Battlestar Galactica's stratospheric success. Helix's vague promos don't really incite viewer anticipation. Though they are very slick looking with the white sets and wardrobe contrasted by the ominous black goo. But lets face it if a sci-fi show relied only on style Vogue magazine's editor and chief Anna Wintour would be directing it Cool .

Tapping Ronald D. Moore to deliver another hit like BSG was a no-brainer. Nonetheless, repeating BSG's success is certainly a lofty goal for a network who's recent programming contradicts its very name (branding can't be a priority here). affraid SyFy has become home to WWE, weird game-shows and haunted/paranormal "reality" flicks - none of which seems to be the viewers choice or remotely science fiction. Defiance and my personal favorite Continuum cheers  are the only shows that meet sci-fi criteria. Yet, Being Human (another fav cheers ) and Lost Girl's (Ugh!) success make the paranormal premise relevant.

Jerri Ryan best known by Star Trek Voyager fans as the sexy Seven of Nine (hubba-hubba!) is the latest edition to join the Helix cast. Helix's plot isn't really original to science fiction, but it may be enough material for Ronald D. Moore to craft into an interesting show. Look for Helix on SyFy in January 2014.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
